On one of those lazy Sundays…..we decided to drop into our usual haunt, the nearby KFC joint. While bickering over how many buckets of chicken(!!!) to order at the counter……we heard a loud bumping noise all of a sudden. The noise came from direction of the see-through glass door. One poor guy [oh boy, was he damn cute
] had walked directly into the glass wall without realizing that there was actually a wall. Everybody around the place chuckled and giggled to his embarrassment [FYI, I didn’t, honest!]. He tried to handle the situation as gracefully as possible by immediately smiling at everyone…..but we could obviously see that he was in great pain. In a few minutes he came inside and to my horror I saw that he had a broken nose and was bleeding profusely! Totally shocked at the enormity of the wound I walked towards him to check on him, but mercifully his family was there who immediately took him to the first-aid section of the mall.
Well, what I am trying to point out is that how hazardous these see-through glass walls can be. Believe me, I have had similar experiences, several times all of which have been equally embarrassing every single time[ but ofcourse, not always at the same place]. Most times I would blame myself that I must be half-blind or something like that. But after seeing that cute guy break his nose, my heart went out to him and I felt outraged. Shouldn’t there be some signs to indicate the presence of the wall? Well, usually there are ads slapped on the surface…..but most times not. It might seem like a small thing relatively, may be even silly and amusing, but no doubt it is indeed potentially dangerous. Don’t you think a broken nose is a pretty heavy price to pay for a couple of fried-chicken pieces[or anything else, for that matter]??!!
We never learn our lessons….do we?! Sigh!

Even I feel sorry for that guy…Broken nose is really a hefty price to pay for anyhting…leave alone KFC chicken.
You are right, and I feel it should be made mandatory to make these glasses either tinted or of mat finish or anything similar, so that the glass does not seem to be so non-obvious.
May Saint Gobain help that chap.
